Thank you for waiting. We propose the following article structure.
The characteristic feature of the Koga medieval castle is the high and large earthen ramparts and moats remaining at the Niimiya Castle site. The main enclosure is 25m east-west and 30m north-south, surrounded by a 4m high, 7m wide earthen rampart, revealing the solidity of that time. The tension of the Warring States period still lingers in this flat land.
The Niimiya Castle site is located on the western side of the Isoogawa River hill, and the Niimiya Branch Castle, 50m south, is placed side by side, a unique structure specific to the Koga region, said to be influenced by the relationship with the old guardian, the Rokkaku family.
Koga has over 200 medieval castles remaining, and the density of these castles makes it an intriguing tourist spot in the Omi area. There are no stone walls or towers inside the castle, only the simple structure of earthen ramparts, making it an intriguing tourist spot for experiencing medieval castle culture.
