Place of worship • 2-chōme-12-25 Nosakamachi, Chichibu, Saitama 368-0033, Japan
This small temple of the Rinzai sect, rooted in the Chichibu region, is filled with timeless charm. Upon passing through the mountain gate, you will be greeted by protective Buddha statues and sculptures. Particularly impressive are the sculptures of Enma-o and Goshirakawandjoraku installed on both sides of the Niomon Gate.
In the precincts, there are 13 Buddha statues created by believers. Originally, these were works carved with great care by people who were not professional sculptors, as offerings for their deceased father. They have a unique flavor and are quite impressive.
Walk through the precincts, enveloped in beautiful nature throughout the four seasons, and you will experience tranquil moments. Amidst the quiet, the faint sound of the railway creates a nostalgic atmosphere.
The nearest station is Chichibu Station on the Seibu Chichibu Line. It is accessible with a 15-minute walk. When visiting the fascinating Yasakadera Temple, be sure to receive a Goshuin stamp, as admission is free. Starting from March of Reiwa 6 (2024), the fee for Goshuin stamps will be 500 yen.
Why not create unforgettable memories at Yasakadera Temple, where the fragrance of history and art lingers?
