A Dragonfly Paradise Wrapped in Silence

Nurtured by the blessings of the Kiso River, Dragonfly Pond is considered a natural gem of Gifu Prefecture. The reflection of trees on the quiet water surface resembles a small paradise escaped from the hustle and bustle of the city.

A Lake Reflecting the History of the Kiso River

Dragonfly Pond is a remnant lake left in the place where the main stream of the Kiso River used to flow. Due to the river improvement during the Meiji and Taisho era, the main stream shifted, which resulted in small lakes scattered in this area. This geologically unique pond tells the story of the history of the Kiso River.

It has one of the largest biotopes in Gifu Prefecture. Apparently there are a lot of dragonflies, but because the season was bad, there weren't many. It is a perfect place for a walk as it is rich in nature. There was a sign warning of vipers, so you need to be careful.

Nothing in particular. Previously, when it was aired on the program ``Drain All the Water in the Pond,'' there were a lot of people and it was a big party. However, because of this, many non-invasive Japanese creatures also died.
