Nestled in the quiet rural area of Suzaka, Nagano Prefecture, 'Kominka Café Yodaya' is a special place that opens only during the winter months. The building, once used for sericulture, has been tastefully renovated to offer a unique retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Run by a couple who are primarily farmers, this café is known for its meticulous hospitality. The warm atmosphere created by the charming smile of the landlady will make you feel at home.
Despite the astonishingly low uniform price of 200 yen for all menu items, there is no compromise on quality. You can enjoy thoughtfully crafted drinks and sweets such as soy latte, choco latte, and shiratama oshiruko. The addition of handmade apple chips and candied slices adds a touch of thoughtfulness.
With a bar counter and three tables, the small interior makes you feel as if you’ve visited a relative's home. You can spend relaxing time while gazing at the expansive rural landscape around you.
The café operates only until the end of March, adding an element of rarity to its charm. When visiting Suzaka in winter, be sure to drop by. It will undoubtedly become a special memory just for you.
Note: Although the appearance may make you think it's a private home, follow the signboard at the back of the site to enter the café with confidence and enjoy a wonderful kominka café experience!
