The hotel dolphin’s value for money is A+
The receptionist whilst speaking minimal English was super sweet and patiently worked with us to communicate effectively.
The room itself is great size and had everything you would need considering the price. Yes it is a bit worn and dated but it’s practical, in a good location and was clean to a satisfactory level. I’d just like to say to everyone who left a one star review, after paying less then 9000 yen a night expecting the Ritz they have a level of delusion. You can’t expect to step into a 5 star hotel when you pay a price like this which is totally fine. Half of you guys sound like you’re critiquing a high end hotel and it’s a joke. We both loved the Dolphin anyone on a budget should definitely think about staying here, by the way the next person who bothers to write a bad review give yourself a reality check. Dolphin Rules! Well, the Hotel Dolphin...
Upon arrival you are greeted by what looks like the entrance to either a tiled toilet block, or public pool change room.
The clerk at the front desk, while lovely, speaks very little English (not a requirement IMO, but just for your information), and checking in was a fun experience.
The room... You are welcomed by the smell of cigarette smoke and upon investigation you will find a spacious yet very dated and weathered 70s style room. This place has seen it's time, and is in desperate need of some maintenance.
The air-conditioning... Worked, if blowing standard room temperature air counts (regardless of setting).
You'll have two power slots to choose from, that's it, make them count.
I strongly suggest you do not go looking for things you do not want to find. The back corner of our bed housed many a strange object that, due to my failure of proper investigation, I'm not sure was alive or dead.
The ladder box containing an emergency ladder I'm sure belongs in a museum. I cannot not attest to it's usability.
A keen mycologist looking to make a new scientific discovery will be very happy in the shower.
Only later did we realise this was a "Love Hotel", which did not comfort us in any way during our night sleeping on top of the doona, as we were not game to join any of long term residents underneath.
Any Pro's? Yeah sure. It's very close to Shin-Okubo station (allowing for a rapid departure from the memories you chose to leave behind at the hotel), and the clerk let us store our luggage hours prior to check in!
The Bottom line, the more you look, the dirtier it's gets.
Avoid.

It's very close to Shin-Okubo Korea Town, only 10 steps away, and it's cheap, and the proprietress was very kind and even lent me umbrellas and napkins. It was a warm hotel that was very accommodating and allowed me to store my luggage. The hotel itself was very clean and I had a comfortable stay. I really appreciate it!

When I checked out, the employees were cleaning each room, but I was surprised to find that they had piled up towels for guests to use on the hallway floor. And I shudder to think that they were using it. I want you to take good care of your hygiene.

Accommodation is 7500 yen.
The room was dirty, the equipment was broken, and it smelled like cigarettes. . .
7500 yen is too good.
