Nestled in a residential area of Tokyo, the Plum Garden is renowned for its plum blossoms. With approximately 670 plum trees and around 100 varieties to enjoy, including early-blooming Chinese wild plums that start flowering from the end of the year, alongside Shirokaga and other varieties, visitors can revel in over two months of plum blossoms.
One of the highlights of the Plum Garden is the enchanting plum tree-lined path. As the branches on both sides of the plum trees come into bloom, it feels like walking through a tunnel of flowers. Slowly walk and enjoy the fragrance, and you will feel the arrival of spring.
The Plum Garden also features an elegant tea house called Umejokan. Here, you can savor authentic matcha along with local specialties such as plum daifuku and pickled plums. Sitting in a seat facing the garden, it is a luxurious experience to admire the plum blossoms.
The annual Setagaya Plum Festival takes place from early February to early March, with stalls lining up. You can enjoy various specialty foods made with plums, such as plum daifuku and plum wine. There are also stage events that create a bustling atmosphere.
The Plum Garden presents a different expression whenever you visit. It is recommended to check the blooming status of the plum blossoms while leisurely spending time. In this small oasis in the city, feel the arrival of spring and let your heart be healed.
