This plum tree, which is steeped in history, is known for the anecdote that Kuragaki Heikurou, a samurai of the Marugame clan in Sanuki Province, hand-picked it and presented it to the shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu during the Edo period.
Kuragaki Heikurou, a samurai of the Marugame clan in Sanuki Province, rode up the steep slope of Mt. Atago one day in 1629 and picked a branch of this plum tree. It is said that he presented the plum branch to the shogun Iemitsu. The footprints of Heikurou's time are still passed down on this Shogun's Plum.
