The heritage of Tennenji and the view here is also wonderful, the road access to the front is open and a few building is quite traditional japanese style. The road access to the rear is leading to high ground and to the east is to the famous “cats road”！

Temple itself does not have much impression. When raining, you can see cats and they are resting here for escaping rain.

It was built in 1388 by Ashikaga Yoshiakira, the second shogun of the Muromachi shogunate. It was originally a five-storied pagoda, but due to its deterioration, it was renovated in 1692 and became the three-storied pagoda in its current form. As you climb up the narrow slope that winds between old Onomichi-style houses, it suddenly appears in front of you and reveals an impressive sight. You can get very close to the tower, so if you look up under the eaves, you can see the old-fashioned and delicate wooden structure made of intricately assembled wood from close up.

It is located at the end of the literary path, Senkoji Temple, that goes down from Senkoji Park. The scenery with Onomichi Channel in the background was amazing. The attic of all three floors is made of fan rafters, and the building is built in the Zen style, with a foundation board and various cross-sections. I think a three-storied pagoda based on Zen Buddhism is quite rare.
