Seitaji, located in the tranquil residential area of Uenohara City, Yamanashi Prefecture, is an ancient temple known as the birthplace of the Momotaro legend. The well-kept beautiful garden in the precincts offers a view of the Keigawa River from the high ground.
According to legend, Momotaro was said to have been born in this area. The temple seal features the story of Momotaro, and there is also a rare elephant statue at the temizuya. It is a prestigious temple as the first of the six temples associated with the Momotaro legend along the Koshu Kaido in the Reiwa era.
