Located in Konan City, Japan, Nouchi Hydrangea Road is a scenic spot where about 19,000 hydrangea plants bloom during the rainy season of June along what used to be an agricultural waterway. The flowers are meticulously maintained by local residents throughout the viewing period, constantly showcasing their beautiful appearance.
The hydrangeas on both sides of the water reflect clusters of various colors such as purple, pink, and white, creating a landscape as if framed. Above, the fresh green cherry blossom trees gently cover the flowers, and the refreshing green and vivid purple create a captivating contrast.
Visiting during sunny intervals of the rainy season, the dewy delicate petals sparkle and dance with the sunlight. On days with light rain, the flowers enveloped in thin clouds create a fantastical atmosphere. The varying expressions of the hydrangea scenery based on the weather is one of the delights that tickle the travel bug.
The viewing season of June, during the "Hydrangea Festival," attracts a large number of visitors, leading to crowded parking lots from the early morning. It might be necessary to park a bit further away and be prepared to walk. However, once you see the magnificent flower scenery, all the hardships of walking will be swept away.
The scenery of Nouchi is made possible by the dedicated efforts of the local residents. Through years of consistent maintenance, we are able to admire the beautiful views throughout the four seasons. While the blooming hydrangeas captivate visitors, we also pay homage to the determination of the local people.
