Incredible experience at Sushi Rinda! Went on April 5th for an omakase dinner. Fiancé and I walked over after strolling through the cherry blossoms of Meguro River and were greeted with great service and a warm atmosphere. Got to try many different ingredients and fish throughout our omakase that we've never had a chance to try before, and some delicious classics such as fatty tuna as well. Each course was meticulously prepared and it was fun to watch the chefs as they did so. They also told our group facts about the ingredients before we ate them, which was interesting to learn about. Overall great experience, and I would definitely come back.

The sushi and omakase experience itself was exquisite. I found myself full after the experience as we had 15-17 items. They do a good job balancing serving seafood items and then non-seafood items like soup or egg. They also served Japan exclusive fish which something I appreciated. The main chef is foreigner friendly as he worked in New York for a few years and he is very chatty. My experience was let down because of the lack of transparency about drink pricing. We were offered the housemade orange juice (3 types of orange juice based on sour vs bitter scale) which we thought, if it's not free at worst it's not that expensive compared to beer. We were wrong, we ended up spending $100 pp in OJ and green tea. You could say it's our own fault for not asking about price, but I think they can also be more forthcoming about this.

Pros: The food and experience as a whole was amazing. Some of the best sushi my partner and I have ever had by far. The chef and his assistants are all really friendly and speak English alongside Japanese which is great for foreign customers. Really good atmosphere as well, everyone’s seated pretty close to each other without it feeling too cramped so you can have a chat if you feel like it. Cons: Lack of transparency about pricing. We ended up paying around ¥40,000 yen pp which was ¥8000 more than we anticipated. We rock up to the place and a beer has been poured for us before we even sit down. Throughout the night the chef repeatedly asks why our beer glasses are empty and makes other remarks sort of nudging us to drink more. We also had 2 small cups of sake throughout the night, one “for tasting, on the chef” and another “for everyone at the end of the night” that they pretty much just hand to you without you saying anything. I suspect we were also billed for water but I don’t know because I didn’t want to look broke in front of everyone and ask for a break down of the bill. We also didn’t get the final “rinda roll” which the chef tried to slide in at the end since thankfully we read a review that said it costs an extra ¥7000 or so. Overall: Great dining experience but lack of transparency about pricing and constant nudging to drink more with the suggestion that it’s free was a bit misleading imo. If you’re warren buffet’s second cousin the cons probably won’t phase you. Yummy food but was it ¥40,000 yummy? Probably not.

Omakase experience was so fun, the chef was funny and explained the fish and cooking process. The owner was not here the day we went, and so they didn’t really speak English which would have made the experience 10/10. Everything was very fresh and got to eat some cool things like jelly crab. Also, we didn’t know this going in but the owner owns an orange garden and makes 6 different kinds of orange juice. We got to taste them all and was a deliciously fun unique experience!

An excellent omakase experience !! Chef Yuta made my first omakase experience truly wonderful. He speaks English and enjoys his work .. you can tell while he feeds you. There was no skimping on any dishes and he even made us extra bites just for us try different items.
