The Ancient Kibi Cultural Center is a museum located in the mountainous area of northern Okayama Prefecture. This entire region was the ancient country of Kibi, and thus, many excavated cultural properties are stored and exhibited here. Visitors can get up close to actual artifacts such as magatama (comma-shaped beads) and earthenware, and ponder the lives of people who lived over 3000 years ago.
All the exhibits are genuine excavated items, providing a rare opportunity to directly touch these precious cultural properties. The simple beauty of the earthenware and the mysterious atmosphere of the magatama will overwhelm you. The freedom to take photos also presents a perfect opportunity to capture lasting memories.
The journey to the museum itself offers a rare experience to fully appreciate the original scenery of Kibi. On the walking trail from Kibitsuhiko Shrine, visitors can relish in the atmosphere of primeval forests dominated by large ferns. As you progress along the hiking trail with a taste of mountain climbing, you will encounter a magnificent view of distant mountain ranges.
Admission is free, and the museum is open on weekends and holidays, allowing you to leisurely immerse yourself in Kibi culture. Inside the cool museum, let yourself be intoxicated by the ancient mysteries and the charm of artifacts that combine artistic and practical elements.
