A Journey Deep in the Green Enveloped History

Bizarre Rocks Standing in the Mountains of Karuizawa

Karuizawa is known as a summer resort, but in its depths, there is a road that seems to lead to another world. The way to Organ Rock is truly an adventure filled with nature and history.

Walking the Old Approach

A path covered with fallen leaves next to the Atago Shrine. It is said that there used to be solid stone steps, but now only the remnants of decayed stairs remain. Be careful as you walk and soon your field of vision will open, revealing the strange rock formations on the mountainside.

Layers of the Earth Tell the Mysteries of Nature

Organ Rock is a peculiar rock formed over many years of erosion. The patterns of layers in red, black, and white seem to narrate the memories of the earth. Combined with the surrounding greenery, it becomes a place to experience the mysteries of nature.

A Traditional Walking Route

Although it has been beloved by the people of Karuizawa for a long time, it is by no means an easy walking course. Proper equipment and attentiveness to the sounds of nature are necessary to open your heart to the enduring tranquility of the past.

Timeless Experience Here

For those tired of city life or those who wish to relax in nature, the road to Organ Rock offers an excellent opportunity to experience the extraordinary. It feels like wandering into a world beyond time, and such an experience surely awaits you.

This is a hidden spot in Karuizawa. It's also fun to experience the deep history of Old Karuizawa. The approach to Organ Rock is steeper than expected. You will need shoes and clothes that are comfortable for walking. In the summer, please carry insect repellent and water. A walk in Karuizawa. It's better to think of it as a light trek.

This place, right next to Atago Shrine, is a place I've always wanted to go to. The approach to Atago Shrine was filled with fallen leaves and the narrow, decayed path that was probably a staircase made me almost fall many times. Oh my God! It is said that people in the past used to go there from time to time for a walk, but even with proper stairs, this slope is difficult. I was really happy when I suddenly saw the roof of the company. In the end, I think it took more than 20 minutes from the entrance to the shrine. It was still in front of the fresh greenery, so I could see the world below from in front of the shrine, and the slightly chilly breeze felt very pleasant. I'm glad I came up.
