Aizu Jiigozaka Gakusha was established by film director Wataru Abiko in response to the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. Initially starting as a base for documentary film production, it evolved into a complex facility featuring a cafe, restaurant, mini-theater, and gallery.
The mini-theater within the schoolhouse screens documentaries themed on Oku-Aizu. After watching a film, relax in the cafe and linger in the essence of the experience.
The cafe menu focuses on local ingredients, offering seasonal dishes:
On the premises, they conduct beekeeping with Japanese honeybees and grow pesticide-free vegetables, raising awareness for environmental protection.
Aizu Jiigozaka Gakusha is more than just a cafe. It's a special place where cinema, food, and environmental consciousness intersect. Here, you can enjoy delicious cuisine while engaging with local culture and history. When visiting Fukushima, make sure to check out this charming spot.
