A serene space by the clear stream of Kiyamigawa River

Echoes in the quiet mountain

Ginsho-ji Temple, with the clear sound of the Kiyamigawa River, soothes the mind. Passing through the quaint main gate, the moss-covered stone steps lead visitors into a space of tranquility. Nestled in the valley, this temple is enveloped in the greenery of Takamine, known as the inner parlor of Kyoto, providing a luxurious escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Enchanted by the colors of the moss garden

The small garden that leads to the main hall exudes the charm of a beautiful moss garden. The green carpet laid out, adorned with rocks and potted stones, creates a scenery like a painting. The moss, which displays different aspects with the changing seasons, is also captivating with its dew-covered appearance in the morning.

Stories hidden in the famous autumn leaves spot

Announcing the arrival of autumn is the brilliant view of autumn leaves. The numerous maple trees planted around the main hall of Ginsho-ji Temple are natural works of art that adorn the changing seasons. The temple, with its venerable history dating back to the Edo period, also boasts giant trees said to be over 300 years old, prompting reflections on its long history.

Healed by the kind-hearted chief priest

The allure of Ginsho-ji Temple is not just its attractions. ** Ginsho-ji Temple 吟松寺(洛北・鷹ヶ峰) This temple called Ginshoji belongs to Jodo sect of Buddhism. It was founded in 1626. It was named after the younger brother of Moritaka Fujibayashi by his Buddhist name. ( Moritaka Fujibayashi is a man from a famous Ninja family called Nagatonokami of Japanese sengoku war period ). The principal image of Jodo sect is Amidanyorai Statue. This place provides deep green of summer season filled with hydrangeas blooming all around as well as known as a hidden hot spot for viewing autumn leaves. It is recommended that you go along Kamiyagawa and visit Shozan Resort before visiting this place. Since the place is not open for tourists or the target of promotion for tourism, it is very quiet. Of course, there is no charge to enter this place. From the entrance gate toward the left is a grave yard with a bunch of Jizo statues. You can go in cuircle around its garden fully covered in beautiful moss. These momiji trees ( japanese maple trees ) are the sign of potential for a great scenary of its autum season. ( Trans-word+ : TGM Kyoto Guide )

After leaving Koetsu-ji Temple and going down the steep slope to the west, there is a hairpin curve, and it is a deserted temple that is not popular. The autumn leaves are very beautiful.

I stopped by when I toured Genkoan and Koetsuji Temple. Along the way, the murmuring of the river was soothing, and the green leaves were spectacular. I didn't realize that it was not a tourist temple and entered through the gate, which caused me some inconvenience.

I couldn't go inside, so I took pictures of the autumn leaves from outside. This area is surrounded by trees, has a river running through it, and has a tranquil atmosphere that feels like you're deep in the mountains. I passed by it on my way from Koetsuji to Shozan Resort.
