A fantastic world woven by hydrangea mandala

Experiencing the divine temple garden

Located in the mountains of Wakayama Prefecture, the "Ajisai Mandala Garden" spreads out within the grounds of Kitamuro Asama Shrine, and it is a famous spot for hydrangeas. The blooming hydrangea scenery reminds people of a mandala and leads the worshippers into another world.

Art created by colorful flowers

Various varieties of hydrangeas are planted in the garden and reach their peak from mid-June to July. You will be captivated by the bright blue, deep purple, and the beautiful patterns of the flowers.

Experiencing the extraordinary in silence

As you progress along the approach, you will be enveloped in a silence that feels like entering another world. Luxurious experiences await, such as the reflection of hydrangeas on the pond and the sound of droplets in the water basin, which can be enjoyed by the five senses.

Enjoying local delicacies

In addition to hydrangeas, there are also lotus flowers and taro plants in bloom, making it a place full of attractions. When you visit, be sure to enjoy the local specialty, "Namauma-yaki."

Access and things to be cautious about

Access: Parking is available at the parking lot on the east approach by car, and the nearest station by train is Kii-Kaminiden Station. Points to note: There are many stairs and uneven ground in the garden, so please be careful when walking. Be especially cautious about heatstroke on hot days.

By visiting the Ajisai Mandala Garden at the right time, you can immerse yourself in a fantastic world that is far removed from everyday life. Would you like to indulge in the art of flowers in the quietness of the temple?

2023.6.26 Hydrangeas are at the end. The dark colored flowers were blooming beautifully, perhaps relatively late. There are many spots where you can look great, such as a pond with floating flowers and a water bath.Don't forget the pond in particular, as it is easy to overlook. It's below. A few semi-summer flowers and water lilies were also blooming. Admission to the hydrangea garden costs 500 yen for adults, but the parking lot is free, so it felt like a good deal.

Although it was a weekday in mid-June, there weren't many people and I was able to enjoy the experience at my leisure. It has been beautifully maintained, so you can enjoy the fantastic scenery. However, it was hot and humid, so we recommend that you take precautions against heat stroke.

Since I came from the north side, I parked at the parking lot on Higashi-sando. The second parking lot on Higashi-sando is multi-dimensional, so it's nice to have shade when it's hot. However, there are many cars on the road, so be careful when crossing. I didn't know because I had never been there before, but I had to climb quite a bit to get to the Hydrangea Mandala Garden. There were also ups and downs in the park. The varieties of hydrangeas were also written and they were beautiful. There will be approximately 120 steps up from the observation deck to the observation deck.

The flowers are very beautiful, but there are problems with management (cleaning). ⚫️ Run the roaring vacuum cleaner in time. If the park opens at 10am, I think you can do it before then. Even though it's a quiet space, I spend more than an hour there. So... ⚫️I thought I was trying to make it look pretty by floating hydrangeas near the wash basin, but I was horrified to see a lot of flower hulas.

Although not all the hydrangeas were in bloom, it was really beautiful! I went on a Sunday and it wasn't very crowded!
