Experience Exquisite Flavors at Sushizanmai

Sushizanmai is a popular non-conveyor belt sushi restaurant with its main store located in Yokohama. It attracts sushi enthusiasts from both the local area and all over the country with its fresh sushi and premium flavors.

A Feast of Fresh Seafood

Sushizanmai takes pride in its exquisite sushi made from fresh morning catch seafood. The tuna has a rich, fatty texture and melts in your mouth. The squid has a thick, chewy texture and a rich flavor. The scallops offer a firm and fresh texture. The extra-large shrimp is sweet, juicy, and has a delightful chewy texture.

Exquisite Specialty Dishes Showcasing Masterful Skills

Aside from hand-pressed sushi, there is also an array of specialty dishes showcasing the masterful skills of the head chef. The savory steamed egg custard is rich in flavor and carefully prepared to showcase the texture and volume of the ingredients. The seasonal specialties and side dishes are all lovingly crafted and showcase exceptional quality.

Relaxed Ambience for a Leisurely Experience

Despite being relatively quiet even late at night, Sushizanmai offers a comfortable and relaxed environment to enjoy sushi. It is a convenient place for individuals to dine without any hesitation, and is also ideal for concluding a gathering. While the prices are slightly higher than conveyor belt sushi, the portion sizes and quality more than make up for it. For those seeking authentic, top-quality flavors, this is an absolute must-visit establishment.

An absolutely delightful experience! The lady staff was so hospitable and helpful in everyway - from welcoming us to seating of our choice to assisting with our order-taking. Initially, I wondered if it may be frowned upon to request less rice (rice sukuname de) but it was promptly facilitated 👌. My Kasumi Sushi Platter (¥1628 including tax) states 1.5人前 meaning to serve 1.5 person (... but I'm not sharing 🤭). It comes with 12 sushi, 3 ganpyo (pickled gourd) mini maki rolls and a quintessential tamagoyaki (Japanese egg roll). Each piece tasted unique, rich and distinctively delicious. Even the horse mackerel (served with grated ginger and scallions) was refreshing with a clean aftertaste. My foodie buddy ordered the Chirashi Donburi (also ¥1628 including tax) and it was as aesthetic as it was deletable, so much so he hmmm-ed and yummm-ed his way from the first grain to the last bite. The sashimi were thick, glossy and so buttery. Both our sets came with ocha (Japanese green tea 🍵), chawanmushi (Japanese steamed egg with seafood) and miso soup. Despite dining during lunch hour, we ate leisurely and gratefully without feeling rushed. The lady staff checked on us regularly to refill our tea. Highly recommended 👍

Very pricey but for the freshness of the seafood is great! Great location - easy to reach there by train. Very busy even at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, but thankfully no queue. Staff is friendly but very busy with the full restaurant so it is a little difficult to get their attention.

The Fatty Tuna is amazing 10/10, well I tried all the different sets of tuna and they were all great. The Grilled Clam 8/10 is pretty good. Fried Puffer Fish though, was okay 7/10. Fried Puffer fish got some big bones in it. Overall, this place is a must try!

English limited but the sushi chef I was seated in front took my order and appeared to understand. Chirashi: supposed to be sashimi pieces but came as thinly sliced fish more akin to nigiri which was not expected/disappointing, and came with a huge bowl of miso soup, but is very economical for 1700 yen. Unusual tamago nigiri.

Always enjoyed sushi with SUSHI ZANMAI. But this time was disappointing. Probably quality of the catch was poor overall.
